The role :

SoFi is searching for a Head of SEC Reporting and Policy with financial services expertise to lead the Company's financial reporting and technical accounting policy functions.

The Head of SEC Reporting and Policy will be responsible for managing all SEC reporting, filings and related analysis to ensure the accurate reporting of financial data in accordance with U.

S. GAAP. This individual will work closely with the finance, legal, investor relations and executive teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and provide accurate and transparent financial information to stakeholders, including shareholders, analysts, and the general public.

Your expertise in SEC Reporting and your deep understanding of GAAP and related reporting requirements will be instrumental in guiding our organization through complex financial matters and ensuring adherence to reporting standards.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, executives, and external auditors to maintain the highest level of financial integrity and provide valuable insights to support key decision-making processes.

This position will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will be a member of the Controllership Leadership Team.

The right person will have leadership experience in financial services, bring a strong point of view as a key member of the Controllership Leadership Team and contribute to our strategic vision and tactical execution to enhance the team's performance.

The Head of SEC Reporting and Policy will also have strong experience in scaling people, processes, and systems in a high growth environment while establishing best-in-class processes and practices.

What you'll do :

Lead the Company's SEC reporting process including the preparation and filing of periodic SEC filings on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K to ensure they are complete, accurate, and filed in accordance with U.

S. GAAP and SEC regulations.

  • Lead the development of a strong technical accounting and policy function, including identifying best practices, formalizing process, standardizing documentation, and partnering with SoFi's various functions to deliver timely and accurate information.
  • Directly manage a team and indirectly partner and collaborate with other internal stakeholders, including the executive management, finance, legal, and investor relations teams and the Company's external auditors.
  • Partner with the Investor Relations team and senior stakeholders in the preparation of materials for the quarterly earnings release process and addressing investor queries related to financial reports.
  • Proactively identify, research, consult, and draft technical memorandums on significant and complex proposed and / or completed transactions.
  • Monitor developments and assess / communicate the effects emerging US GAAP, IFRS and SEC proposed regulations.
  • Partner with financial controllers to create, update or clarify global financial policies; organizing teams to develop policy and implement new accounting pronouncements.
  • Lead process to ensure financial policies are updated to reflect current business practices and compliance with GAAP and educate the global finance organization on accounting pronouncements and application of policy.
  • Interact with internal and external audit, and support for the auditing process overall.
  • Interact with regulators, including the OCC and the Fed in regard to inquiries and audits.
  • Ensure robust internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, including disclosure controls and procedures.
  • Lead the transformation and act as a change agent to streamline, improve and further automate the SEC reporting and Policy processes
  • Develop, attract and retain talent.

What you'll need :

  • 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Must have at least 10+ years of relevant experience including : 5+ years SEC reporting experience; public company experience;

7+ years large public accounting firm experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and SEC regulations.
  • Strong command of SEC reporting standards and requirements.
  • Expertise in preparing and reviewing SEC filings, including 10-Q, 10-K, and other required reports.
  • Proficiency with researching accounting literature including FASB, SEC, AICPA and IFRS rules and regulations.
  • Strong leadership experience, communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive management
  • Strong project management, leadership, relationship development and people management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; concise communication when speaking to senior leadership.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present complex financial data and disclosures to executive leadership and committees.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Extensive experience with financial reporting systems and SEC filing software, such as Workiva, Snowflake and Tableau, to automate as much of the SEC reporting process as possible.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills working with a variety of stakeholders at different levels across various departments.
  • Possess superior planning, organizational and documentation skills, attention to detail, strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external professionals at all levels.
  • Proactive approach to problem identification and collaborative solutions, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
