GENERAL SUMMARY

The Director is a member of the department's interdisciplinary team. Responsible for providing strategic oversight and planning, leadership, and direction to the wellness program staff.

This position has overall responsibility for the management of the wellness programs serving the Nisqually Community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform. This list of responsibilities is intended to be representative of the duties performed within this classification.

  • Responsible for the delivery of quality services through supervision, mentorship and coaching of supervisory staff.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate program policies and procedures that meet accepted professional standards and standards of regulatory bodies and maintains compliance with requirements of regulatory agencies, licensing requirements and funding agreements.
  • Conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services, and coordinating financial reporting.
  • Collaboratively design a strategy to improve access for patients, patient outcomes, staff satisfaction, and patient satisfaction with services.
  • Plan and implement prevention and early intervention programs.
  • Administration of state and federal grants.
  • Facilitates coordination of services with Tribal, State and County justice system agencies and external behavioral health providers.
  • Supports coordination of services and / or client advocacy with other tribal programs.
  • Participates on a multi-disciplinary team that plans for continuous improvement and coordination of client services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIQNS

Education and Experience

  • Master's or other advanced degree in social services, community health education, or public administration.
  • Active, Unencumbered WA State license for practice (LMHC, LMFT, LASW, LICSW, Licensed Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist) AND / OR current WA State Substance Use Disorder Professional certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in behavioral health systems and a minimum of five years working as a Senior Level Behavioral Health Administrator with responsibilities over multiple program areas.
  • Valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribes Insurance policy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with Tribes and Native Communities.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must meet travel requirements and authorize and complete a background check prior to employment.

SUPERVISION This position does supervise.

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of :

Possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Direct knowledge of federal, state, local funding sources available to support substance use disorder and mental health services.

Command of advanced principles of management, including budget development and management and strategic planning.

Skill in :

  • Leadership demonstrated through extensive knowledge and management of multiple, complex behavioral health programs with associated policy and program risk.
  • Developing and directing behavioral health policy implementation.

Ability to :

  • Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality with all materials, and exercise discretion when interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance collaborative leadership and sound decision-making.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary responsibilities of this job.

This position is generally sedentary. Employee sits most of the time but may walk or stand for brief periods to include offsite locations.

Must be able to operate a personal computer and related office equipment necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
