B.L. Harbert International is looking for a Project Controls Engineer for its office in Arlington, Virginia. The Project Controls Engineer will work in close cooperation with BLHI’s Project Manager, superintendents and material suppliers during the refinement of the project execution schedule, and the monitoring of the project’s critical path.
Candidate will work with key members of BLHI’s project team to update plans for project design processes, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare project schedule updates and reports required by the contracts
- Prepare short-term look-ahead schedules for use by BLHI field forces and subcontractors
- Record and report actual performance progress and forecast completion of work based on performance to date
- Prepare evaluations of potential time impacts from change issues or unanticipated conditions in the field
- Prepare and maintain BLHI’s procurement logs to assist in planning and execution of material procurement
- Assist the project manager and project engineer to analyze cost and potential time issues associated with RFP’s Requirements :
- US citizen
- US citizen
- Ability to periodically travel abroad to project sites
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the US Government
- Undergraduate Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field
- 5+ years’ experience and training in scheduling and planning construction projects
Preferences :
- Experience in scheduling and planning construction projects using Primavera P6
- Experience in Department of Defense or Department of State projects
- Experience in USACE or OBO projects overseas
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaborate and work well on a team
- ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with people from various backgrounds
- Strong time management, follow-through and organizational skills
Physical Demands :
To perform the duties of this job, the employee must :
- Have the ability to repetitively use hands to grasp, reach above and below with arms, and work overhead
- Have the ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, bend, balance and twist for extended periods
- Have the ability to frequently lift, carry and / or move up to 25 pounds of weight in the form of paper, boxes, files, etc.
- Possess the manual dexterity to utilize and operate construction tools and / or construction equipment and machinery
- Possess a high degree of concentration necessary in a busy office environment
Work Environment :
To perform the duties of this job, the employee
- Must be able to work in an office environment and periodically on construction sites overseas
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
- Will have occasional exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including frequent loud noises
- Must be flexible with hours in order to accommodate business needs
