General Summary of Position :

The University of Massachusetts Lowell is proud to be designated as an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) by the federal government.

This funding supports efforts to reduce barriers to educational achievement for AAPI students by enhancing institutional programs and services.

The Data Analyst will provide specialized support for the federally funded Title III AANAPISI grant, performing data collection and analysis to evaluate program participation and outcomes.

The role includes creating customized reports that disaggregate program results and contribute to continuous program improvement, with the goal of positively impacting processes across the university.

Working under the direction of the Director of the Office of Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research (DAIR), the Data Analyst will collaborate closely with AANAPISI Principal Investigators (PIs) and the Enterprise Data Architect to respond to data requests.

They will assist with the development and maintenance of DAIR's data warehouse (dataUML), including testing, maintaining reporting documents, documenting methodologies, and developing Tableau dashboards for internal and self-service data needs.

Minimum Qualifications (Required) :

Education :

Bachelor's degree in the social sciences, computer science, business or related field (Master's preferred).

Experience :

Two to five years of demonstrated responsibility and professional experience in computer programming, data extraction, reporting, and analysis, with experience working with descriptive statistics, large data sets, and quantitative research methods.

Skills :

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with statistical software (SPSS or SAS preferred), SQL, and Tableau.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to learn data values and relationships within an enterprise information system and apply them in various reports.
  • Experience with statistical, research, and evaluation methods, including conducting research following social scientific practices and ethics.
  • Experience collaborating successfully with administrative partners.
  • Commitment to customer service.

Additional Considerations :

  • Experience in a college / university or institutional setting performing management reporting and equity-focused data analysis preferred.
  • Applicants with the knowledge, skills, and life experiences to address the needs of a culturally diverse student population are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data modeling.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment with tight deadlines, and handle sensitive or confidential information.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, with good judgment and attention to accuracy.

This is a Grants & Contracts (MTA / GRACE) bargaining unit position, Grade P18.

This position is contingent upon funding. This is a grant-funded, temporary, full time, benefited position, contingent on the renewal of the grant.

The position is funded for the 2024-2028 timeframe.
