Summary :
The Controller reports to the President, participates as a key member of the leadership team and may participate with the owners.
This position is responsible for the accounting and financial operations of the company to include the production of financial reports, maintenance of systems of accounting records, key performance indicators, and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Job Responsibilities :
- Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
- Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations
- Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money
- Monitor cash and funding balances
- Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review
- Prepare quarterly / annual financial reports
- Manage the quarterly / annual budgets and forecasts
- Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors
- Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices
- Provide recommendations and leadership on ERP integration and use; responsible for integration of financial processes within new system implementation
- Participate in improving overall company performance, including deal margin, transportation / logistics analysis, and organizational culture
- Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Ensuring company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements
- Additional duties as requested
Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma required; BS / BA in Accounting preferred
- CPA preferred
- 5+ years as a key financial leader with progressive experience; medical device or veterinary industry experience preferred
- ERP experience, Odoo experience preferred
- Prior P&L responsibility
- Experience in strategic planning and managing through KPI’s
- Problem solving and process improvement experience and implementation of internal controls
- Strong attention to detail
- Highest level of integrity and professional demeanor
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with all levels within the organizations
Physical Demands :
- May be frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time
- May be required to push, pull, or lift objects up to 25 lbs.
