The Instructional Designer is an independent contractor member of the DEKRA North America (DNA) Learning and Development team and will be assigned directly to the Instructional Design Manager.

The DNA Learning and Development team is responsible for the creation, virtual facilitation, in person and on-demand eLearning programs for DEKRA global customers and partners.

This role supports multiple high-profile projects. Our strategic goal is to offer digital products, in person presentations and virtual instructor-led training in addition to many other learning initiatives for our North American and global customers.

The independent contractor Instructional Designer should be a technical and proficient self-starter who stays on task and takes ownership of their work.

Meeting deadlines, prioritizing workload, and efficiently managing time are all required with a passion for providing the most comprehensive, innovative and efficient learning materials possible.

This individual receives work from the ID Manager and / or subject matter experts to design, develop, and deliver high quality instructional assets that reflect the goals of the internal customer.

The Work :

  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and team members in all phases of the courseware development cycle to analyze and determine learning needs and best modality to meet desired outcomes.
  • Create survey and assessment instruments; analyze data from survey and assessments and incorporate feedback or determine edits needed.

Provide content QA, technical writing and grammar / punctuation reviews.

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances knowledge and skill retention and transfer.
  • Perform graphic design, user interface design and design production graphics for training courseware.

Requirements :

  • 5+ years’ instructional design and development.
  • Experience with performance measuring, multimedia, curriculum and course development.
  • Experience using ADDIE, SAM, or Agile methodology.
  • Experience with LMS platforms.
  • Knowledge of related web development technologies.
  • Experience creating storyboards and translating into engaging web-based learning modules.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in development tools including Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, Microsoft’s Office Suite, and Adobe’s Creative Suite.

  • Technical knowledge of SCORM and training standards ( aggregate Shareable Content Objects (SCOs) to create SCORM compliant content packages) for delivery on the LMS.
  • Strong work ethic; organized, motivated, and able to work independently and as part of team; ability to manage multiple individual tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a working knowledge of a wide range of applications and systems.
  • Able to work cross functionally with various stakeholders maintaining a high level of communication with those involved.

This independent contractor position pays between $40 / per hour and $50 / per hour. Actual pay contracted is based on experience and qualifications.
