Position Summary
Job Summary The Associate Director shares responsibilities with the Director for the leadership of the Counseling Center with an emphasis on the management of clinical services and records.
The Associate Director manages the office in the absence of the Director. As a member of the clinical staff of Counseling Services, the Associate Director provides counseling, consultation, educational outreach, and urgent-response services to Susquehanna University students in support of the mission of the office and division of Student Life.
Specific Responsibilities Administrative Responsibilities
- Coordinate clinical services to ensure responsiveness to the needs of the campus community including managing wait times and on-call follow-up.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure adherence to the highest clinical standards, applicable legislation, local health and safety laws and regulations, student affairs risk management policies, and professional codes of ethics.
- Oversee, organize and integrate CAPS Clinical Service activities, managing the evaluation and assessment of these services and programs
- Provide leadership in the scheduling, planning, implementing, and monitoring of all clinical policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative supervision for staff members
- Represent the CAPS director and staff in various capacities in team meetings, liaising with campus parents, liaising with community partners, participating in committees, and conducting consultations
- Organize regular case conferences, and other indicated professional education within CAPS
- Liaison to the Center for Collegiate Mental Health including monthly data uploads and other compliance concerns (i.e. IRB, webinars / training).
- Manage and organize all Counseling Center individual and group therapy client satisfaction surveys.
- Analyze data and generate regular reports regarding clinical services utilization to assist the Director with budget requests and short- and long-term planning.
- Maintain a comprehensive referral network, identify professional resources in the community to make appropriate student referrals, and organize and implement a system for the evaluation of referral sources.
- In the absence of the Dean of Health and Wellness / Director, this role will supervise all operations
Other Responsibilities
- Provide clinical counseling services (therapy, evaluation, crisis intervention, referral) to Susquehanna University students.
- Maintain relevant paperwork and documentation.
- Consult with students, parents, faculty and staff regarding mental health and developmental needs of students as needed and appropriate.
- Provide Clinical Supervision to pre-masters and / post master’s counselors.
- Regularly add and edit templates in electronic health record to facilitate the clearest most accurate and most efficient documentation of client visits.
Esurance the training of CAPS staff and providers on these template changes.
Required Qualifications Education Master’s in psychology, counseling, or social work required. Appropriate licensure or license-eligible in Pennsylvania required.
Experience Three years of clinical experience required. Experience working within a college or university counseling center preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Skilled at written and verbal communication, including formal presentations to groups. Ability to set priorities and advocate team concepts;
work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Physical Demand Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach.
Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
Working conditions are normal office environment and indoor. Preferred Qualifications Experience Experience working within a college or university counseling center preferred.
