Our Visualization and Data Intelligence (VDI) national business line is seeking a Full-Time IT Business Analyst intern to work out of our Buffalo, NY office.

The following locations will also be considered : Denver, CO. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.

This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025.

The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

Your Impact

• Support a variety of analytical tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Business Analysis.
• Interview and maintain communication with VDI team members and other stakeholders to define business workflows, data needs, application requirements, and desired outputs.
• Create system diagrams, followed by a review and change process until final.
• Develop functional specification requirements, followed by a review and change process until final.
• Complete functional specification document.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related Undergraduate program.
• Demonstrated interest in architecture, design, and development of modern data-driven .NET web applications or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
• Familiarity with web application requirements gathering / needs analysis, functional specification writing, and developing technical specifications on web solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using basic proficiency with technical writing and MS Office software.
• Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
• Understanding of Microsoft platforms, frameworks, and tools (Visual Studio, ASP.NET, and C#) and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Basic understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

Compensation :

Expected Salary (all locations) : $19 - $30

Expected Salary (Colorado only) : $19 - $30
