Position Summary
The VP, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting will be a key member of our Finance and Accounting team who will lead the external financial reporting and technical accounting function.
The role will be responsible for the oversight of the Company’s SEC reporting function, owning the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Form’s 10-K and 10-Qs.
The role collaborates cross-functionally on all technical accounting and SEC reporting matters, manage the documentation, review, and communication of conclusions on the appropriate accounting for complex transactions and contracts and adoption of new accounting standards.
The Vice President will be responsible for leading, reviewing and ensuring that the Company is in compliance with all financial policies, GAAP and SEC related reporting requirements as well as for assessing and assisting with key business and strategic activities, initiatives and transactions while advising on the appropriate accounting treatment.
Essential Functions
- Develop the existing team of talented technical accountants and experts in SEC reporting and hire new talent as the team grows
- Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation, and oversee the implementation of new accounting guidance and for new transactions
- Review technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions and support the review process with management and external auditors.
- Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly financial statements, including the statement of cash flows.
- Manage the preparation, review and filing of 10-Q and 10-K filings, proxy statements, registration statements, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all GAAP and SEC regulations and disclosure requirements.
- Assist CAO in preparation of quarterly disclosure committee and audit committee materials.
- Manage internal reporting calendar and communications with stakeholders to ensure deadline adherence.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
- Lead various process improvement initiatives in order to eliminate redundancies and improve efficiency.
- Coordinate the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors, including delivery of supporting documentation, clearing questions / issues and reviewing new accounting transactions and disclosures.
- Management analysis and reports on an as-needed basis
- Performs other special projects and duties as requested
Education & Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business-related fields.
- CPA or equivalent qualification is required.
- Minimum 15 years of technical accounting and reporting experience. Big 4 experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience researching and documenting accounting guidance and the accounting treatment of issues
- Experience with Workiva or Active Disclosure, Shareworks or Etrade EEO, and detailed XBRL tagging preferred
- Experience biotech or healthcare industry preferred but not required
- Leadership experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from conceptualization through implementation across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines
- Lead experience with an emphasis on relationship management and communication at all levels within an organization
- Experience leading, coaching and mentoring a team

- Advanced MS Word and Excel skills
Working Environment / Physical Environment
This position works hybrid (combination on site and remote)
This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below.
The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.
$220,000(entry-level qualifications) to $280,000 (highly experienced) annually
