The opportunity
The EH&S Specialist is responsible for implementing workplace environmental, safety, and health programs at assigned facilities to help foster a compliant operation and where Zero Harm culture is continuously embraced.
- Supports implementation and improvement of EH&S programs at one or more distribution facilities in the US.
- Collaborate with facility operational teams and EH&S staff to implement action plans, processes, and procedures to control EH&S risks and achieve compliance to the Gildan safety and environmental policies, corporate EH&S risks and achieve compliance to the Gildan safety and environmental policies, corporate EH&S guidelines, and improvement initiatives.
- Conducts assessments that identify hazards and reduce risk including but not limited to hazard identification, job safety analysis, risk assessments, pre-startup safety review, PPE, machine guarding, and hazardous energy.
- Conducts training in all aspects of EH&S to ensure compliance with legal and Gildan requirements and in a manner that positively engages employee behaviors.
- Collaboratively conducts incident reviews for causes and develop corrective / preventative actions.
- Coaches all levels of personnel on critical skills, behaviors, and techniques that builds and sustains a safety culture consistent with Gildan's values.
- Conducts or supports industrial hygiene evaluations sufficient to identify hazards, risks, and trends.
- Participates in or conducts internal audits, compliance assessments, and inspections.
- Supports safety programs for contractors and construction projects.
- Maintains EH&S documentation, records. and EH&S management information tools.
- Develops & implements plans to complete personal objectives that align with organizational objectives.
- Participates in audits / inspections by external parties such as OSHA, EPA, Property Insurance Carrier, Corporate, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
