The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Senior Building Energy Engineer to join McKinstry as a member of our growing Southeast Technical Services team.

McKinstry supports clients and their facilities throughout the life of a building; the Technical Service team specifically focuses on the optimization and energy efficiency of existing buildings with a uniquely technical consultative approach.

We work directly with owners to help them make effective decisions that improve the efficiency, comfort for occupants and lifespan of their buildings.

In this role, you will perform site energy audits, analyze building automation system and energy use data from facilities to drive operational efficiency as part of our Energy Management consulting services.

You will leverage experience in problem solving, systems analysis, data analysis and communication to drive sustainability and efficiency for schools, hospitals, data centers and other large impact facilities.

Communication and collaboration are a large part of this role as well, frequently requiring that you partner with other McKinstry teams to deliver effective results while managing client expectations, as well as coordinate multiple stakeholders within a client organization as needed.

You will be responsible for making technical recommendations, building actionable reports and presenting them to clients, and assisting the client with recommendation implementation based on the project scope, and backchecking / implementation quality control.

You will be directly responsible for key accounts, driving technical solutions and optimization in buildings.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry :

  • Demonstrated proficiency as an energy engineer, PE, or BEAP preferred.
  • Seven years of experience in energy efficiency with a minimum of 3 years of relevant building energy analysis experience.
  • 3+ years experience with project management and client consulting.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and control systems such as Siemens, JCI, ATS, and others.
  • Working knowledge of issue management systems such as BIM360 and CxAlloy.
  • Proven understanding of building energy / mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and control systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of fire / life safety, plumbing, lighting and security systems.
  • Ability to read, understand and identify potential issues within construction documents.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Suite skills including Project, Excel and Word.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent work experience.

The pay range for this position is $76,320 - $109,980 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
