Position Summary :

This position is responsible for design and construction related tasks associated with instrumentation and control systems associated with Bartlett & West projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Responsibilities :

Preliminary and Design

• Prepares Instrumentation & Control System (I&C) section of project reports.
• Work with process engineers to develop P&ID drawings.
• Able to lead P&ID development for I&C Scope
• Oversee instrumentation plan sheet design
• Oversee instrumentation specifications / ISA datasheets
• Work with a designer to create instrument install details and location plans
• Coordination with project Owner’s integrator if there is one.
• Prepare I&C operating description / control narrative.
• Coordination with electrical designer on conduit and wiring for Instrument & Controls
• Develop I&C Lists : Instrument List, I / O List, Cable Schedule
• Develop Control Architecture Drawings or Network Block Diagrams
• Review Equipment Specifications for I&C related requirements
• Coordination and lead effort to define who is providing and installing field devices
• Develop all I&C related project deliverables
• Cost estimates associated with I&C system
• Monitors scope, schedule, and budget and controls the work to the project plan

Bidding

• Respond to questions related to I&C
• Develop scope of work bid packages which include I&C deliverables

Construction Admin

• Review I&C submittals
• Review Equipment Vendor Packages for I&C Related documents
• Respond to RFI’s related to I&C
• Record changes on P&ID’s and other I&C related documents.

Start Up and Commissioning

Be available for startup phase to answer any I&C related questions for the system integrator, and coordinate with process design team.

Other duties :

• Look at previous documents, and possibly the programming to help make changes
• Help with field trouble shooting
• Participate in Business Development efforts related to Instrumentation & Control services including : attend conferences and promoting Bartlett & West, assist with preparation of project proposals, and participate in project interviews.
• Participate in development of scope of work on projects related to I&C, assists in developing project fees related to I&C, monitors actual effort compared to budget.
• Meets with clients for design-related workshops, including instrument preferences, HMI graphics design and standard development
• Participates in continuing editing and development of I&C master specifications

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering

Experience :

2-5 years’ experience in Instrumentation and Control Systems specializing in water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations and RNG facilities.

Experienced in design, and startup and commissioning for instrumentation and control systems. 2+ years’ experience in preparation of I&C plans and specifications, P&ID drawings, software packages, panel design, and HMI equipment required.

Must have experience in reviewing system integrator shop drawings / submittals, working with system integrators and plant operators, and experience in water / wastewater systems, process facilities, and industrial processes.

Travel Expectations :

Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time. Travel between the employee’s home base and Topeka, other company locations, client locations, business meetings, industry conferences and trade shows as needed.
