Position Summary :

The Behavioral Health Clinical Director at HOPE Atlanta is responsible for overseeing and managing the clinical operations within the organization’s behavioral health service programs.

This position focuses on direct clinical oversight, program implementation, and quality assurance of behavioral health interventions, particularly for individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges.

The Clinical Director works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that services are client-centered, evidence-based, and delivered in accordance with best practices and regulatory standards.

Primary Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide clinical oversight for behavioral health programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols and procedures, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Supervise and support clinical staff, including therapists, social workers, and counselors, ensuring ongoing professional development.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and provide direct therapeutic services when necessary.
  • Coordinate clinical case management, crisis interventions, and the provision of mental health and substance use services.

Program Implementation & Development

  • Implement clinical programs that address trauma, mental health, and substance use in alignment with HOPE Atlanta’s mission and community needs.
  • Ensure that clinical programs are integrated with housing and case management services.
  • Lead clinical team meetings and case conferences to ensure comprehensive client care.
  • Collaborate with external partners to enhance client access to healthcare, housing, and other supportive services.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of clinical services, ensuring program fidelity and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance measures and performance indicators to assess clinical outcomes.
  • Work with the Director of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to conduct audits and implement feedback processes for clinical service enhancement.

Team Supervision & Development

  • Recruit, train, and supervise clinical staff, providing ongoing mentorship and leadership.
  • Provide clinical supervision for staff seeking licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LPC).
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting staff wellness and professional growth.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build relationships with community mental health organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to strengthen the continuum of care for clients.
  • Represent HOPE Atlanta at clinical and community events, advocating for the needs of the homeless population and those with behavioral health challenges.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director, COO, and finance team to manage the budget for clinical services, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reporting related to clinical program funding.

Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current Georgia licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent.
  • Additional Addiction Professional Licenses (MAC, CADC, etc.), is a preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience providing clinical services in a behavioral health setting, with 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mental health, substance use treatment, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to clinical services, including Medicaid and other funding requirements.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including those affected by homelessness, addiction, and mental illness.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Possess a valid Georgia driver’s license, with a good driving record and reliable transportation, required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • In-depth knowledge of behavioral health service delivery, including trauma-informed care and harm reduction strategies.
  • Proven leadership and staff management capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage crisis situations effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide integrated care to clients.
  • Commitment to the mission of HOPE Atlanta and to enhancing the well-being of underserved populations.
