Compensation :

  • Annual Salary Range : $70,000-$86,500
  • Note : Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

Position Description :

Supervise Real Estate Specialists through coaching, performance management, discipline, hiring, and assigning tasks. Oversees employee’s workload and adjusts in consultation with the Executive Director to employee job duties.

Informs and trains employees on laws and agency policies and procedures. Create reports for Commission meetings.

Responds to questions from real estate licensees and the public regarding complaints. Determines the need for an investigation and obtains any relevant documents and information needed for review purposes.

Prepares a written report for any complaints that fall within the jurisdiction of the Commission and presents the findings to the Commission’s investigative team with recommendations on appropriate case action based on appropriate statutes and regulations.

Perform an initial review of orders drafted by staff. Act as an agency liaison with Commission’s disciplinary counsel through the Attorney General’s office as directed by the Commission’s Executive Director.

Reviews audit reports of real estate brokerages prepared by the auditors, including examination of the audit summary prepared by the auditors and records connected with real estate transactions.

Prepares the audit summary that details the laws that were violated. Reviews audit orders completed by legal staff to ensure orders are accurate.

Responds to questions from real estate licensees about audits and applicable laws.

Represent the agency at conferences, meetings and other events. Develop, coordinate and provide presentations related to Commission compliance matters.

Attends legislative meetings and testifies on behalf of the Commission as directed by the Executive Director. Provides feedback to the Executive Director on matters impacting the agency.

Supervises and ensures that written responses to open records requests received by the Commission are timely and accurately answered and redacted in accordance with the Kansas Open Records Act.

Periodically review and update agency records retention schedule.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years of supervisory experience in a government, regulatory or real estate setting.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency*

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant knowledge of the real estate industry and / or a degree from accredited law school
  • At least three (3) years of experience in professional legal work including experience in government or administrative law settings.
  • Real Estate Salesperson or Broker License

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Positive attitude and exceptional critical thinking skills, with a high level of organizational and communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including strong Word, Excel and Access skills
  • Knowledge of the agency structure, objectives, and license law to provide excellent service
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to apply regulations and procedures to make decisions
