Position Summary :

Are you detail-oriented and passionate about managing budgets and financial operations? As the Budget Coordinator for the Office of Educational Opportunity Programs, Outreach and Success (EOPOS), you will play a crucial role in overseeing department funds and ensuring fiscal accuracy and efficiency.

Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Opportunity Programs, Outreach and Success (EOPOS), you will be responsible for accounting, purchasing, and the preparation and review of various fiscal and accounting forms.

You will be the primary person conducting all major purchases for the department and serve as a budget officer and designated liaison for the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity.

Your role will involve interacting with department staff to identify, prepare, and submit draft fiscal budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Financial Oversight : Manage department funds, including accounting, purchasing, and preparation of fiscal forms.
  • Annual Reporting : Assist with annual reporting for various funding sources and programs, including CSU Foster Youth funding, CSU Early Assessment Program funding, EAP Grant utilization, Price Community Scholars scholarship, philanthropy funding, and gift card distributions.
  • Personnel Records : Coordinate the processing of personnel records for full-time staff and student employees, including payroll and attendance reports, and other HR forms.
  • Salary Tracking : Identify and track salary savings, position conversions, and prepare reports on salary commitments and savings.

Position Information

  • Full-time, benefits eligible, permanent / probationary position.
  • Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and / or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.

This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and / or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and / or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience working with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, and administrators is preferred.
  • General understanding of low-income and underserved communities preferred.
  • Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to oversee the processing of all purchase requisitions, to work independently, to make reliable decisions and recommendations.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, coordination and performing work in situations where numerous demands are involved.

Licenses / Certifications Required

Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,261 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation.

CSU Classification Salary Range : $3,879 - $7,488 per month.
