Schedule : We are hiring for two positions. Schedules between .5FTE and FTE are available, Full-Time and Part-Time applicants are encouraged to apply.
Monday - Friday 9am-5pm (this could change based on operational needs)
The Objective : You are responsible for working closely with the CMO, physician colleagues, and PPRM staff to provide excellent patient care.
You will be instrumental in implementing PPRM’s expanding medical services, ensuring sound clinical practices, and serving as many patients as possible for as long as possible within the medical policies and clinical standards established by the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s (PPFA) National Medical Committee, PPRM’s Clinical Quality & Risk Management Team, and other relevant regulatory agencies.
Success : You know you will be successful when, as part of the Staff Physician Team, you provide the highest level of clinical care in our region.
This requires seamless collaboration with PPRM staff throughout the agency and collaboration with the Department of Clinical Quality and Risk Management.
Superb clinical care will be evident low complication rates, positive patient experience data, exemplary audits, and unblemished inspections / audits.
Snapshot : The Staff Physician is responsible for providing safe, competent, and inclusive medical care to patients. At the Chief Medical Officer’s request, they will assist with other administrative functions.
These functions include, but are not limited to, the on-boarding, training, supervision, and clinical evaluation of licensed medical staff (including contract physicians) to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care.
They will also assist with processes to ensure adherence to the PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines and PPRM clinical protocols throughout the agency.
This is a full-time, salaried, overtime-exempt position. This position is eligible to be part-time as needed.
Qualifications :
- Board Certified or has achieved Active Candidate status for Board Certification, preferred Obstetrician / Gynecologist, with full range of reproductive health care, including gynecologic services, contraception services, colposcopy, and first and second trimester abortions.
- Must be take the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology Certifying Examination (achieving Board Certification) within 2 years of hire
- Currently licensed to practice medicine in Colorado and eligible for licensure in Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
- Must have current DEA registration in Colorado and eligible for registration in Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
- Ability to function comfortably in protocol-based practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team with all levels of PPRM staff.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as required.
- Must be willing to be on call for patient emergencies.
- Strong computer skills in electronic medical records, telemedicine video platforms, MS Office, and the ability to quickly learn new technology.

Primary Areas of Responsibility / Essential Functions :
Physician Duties : direct patient care, assuring outstanding quality of services provided; serve as a support and mentor, stepping in when necessary to ensure clinical care follows protocols and that patients receive best possible care
- Provides direct medical care in both family planning and abortion services in accordance with Planned Parenthood Federation of America Medical Standards and Guidelines and PPRM clinical protocols and operating procedures.
- Provides first and second trimester abortion procedures.
- Provide medication abortion in-clinic and via telemedicine models.
- Lead PPRM Medical Staff in patient care and management of challenging clinical situations, including procedural complications.
- Lead PPRM Medical Staff in creating management plans for medically complicated patients.
- Serve as a training and / or overseeing physician for Advanced Practice Clinicians in any PPRM state where the staff physician is also licensed.
- Works in electronic health records and provides support to other medical staff and contract physicians.
- Supports and participates in training programs for Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, and unlicensed health center staff.
- Provides medical consultation to Medical Staff and Nursing Staff regarding the clinical management of specific patients.
- Expands knowledge base by staying abreast of current medical literature, evolving medical standards and relevant advances within the field.
- Participates in Research initiatives / projects.

Administrative : be an active contributor on the Staff Physicians team, providing insight, perspective and guidance; set the tone for others in patient care and as a member of an internal team focused on providing consistently outstanding care while modeling PPRM’s values
- Embodies and supports PPRM’s values and service standards in interactions with staff, patients, and third parties.
- Assist and collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer in assuring that physician services are provided in accordance with Planned Parenthood Federation of America Medical Standards and Guidelines and PPRM clinical protocols and operating procedures.
- Participates in the hiring, supervision, professional growth, and evaluation of Medical Staff and Contract physicians.
- Serves as a liaison with the PPRM administrative staff.
- Supports the implementation of medical standards, protocols, and procedures for the entire organization.
- Works collaboratively throughout the organization to ensure the adoption of standards and policies for all functional aspects of clinical services that result in patient experience improvements.
- Provides medical guidance to Medical Staff and Nursing Staff members.
- Supports the autonomous delivery of services by mid-level providers.
- Review and contribute to reports of patient care occurrences.
- Assist in management of PPRM’s pharmacy program, which may include the ordering of controlled substances and other pharmaceuticals.
- Actively supports a patient-focused approach to health care.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service, both internally and externally, by working towards a positive outcome with any problems encountered.
- Travel to provide medical services, as needed and determined by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Travel within PPRM’s three state region and nationally for conferences.
- Timely submission of accurate expense reports.
- Specific for Nevada / New Mexico Assistant Medical Directors only : Must have all applicable licenses and DEA in Nevada / New Mexico.
Acts as overseeing physician for pharmacy-related functions. Acts as the Director of Laboratory Services per Nevada / New Mexico state regulation.
Assumes legal responsibility for ordering and distribution of drugs and devices in compliance with Nevada / New Mexico state and federal pharmacy laws.
Abortion Care : We all work in abortion care, whether it is referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc.
