SUMMARY
Providessupport and direction in driving academic excellence, fostering studentsuccess, and strengthening community engagement both on campus and insurrounding communities.
Serves as the chief administrator for the campus whileworking collaboratively with the Provost’s office and Cuyahoga CommunityCollege District leadership to ensure quality and consistency with enrollmentservices, student support services, and the teaching and learning experience onone of four urban campuses in Northeast Ohio.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Strategic Leadership :
- Exhibits entrepreneurial leadership by seeking and identifying opportunities that promote the College’s mission, advance student successes, and contribute to the region’s economy
- Works in collaboration with the Provost’s office on the development and implementation of a comprehensive academic plan for students, ensuring continuity between all four campuses and among the five academic schools and alignment with the College’s mission and goals
- Fosters a positive culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement among faculty, staff, and students
- Monitors key performance indicators, enrollment metrics, and other benchmarks to measure the effectiveness of campus operations
- Serves as a member of the academic executive leadership team and the President’s leadership cabinet, council, and the College Labor Management Committee
- Manages campus relationships with members of the Board of Trustees
- Leads campus-based strategic planning and institutional assessment programs
Academic Excellence :
- Collaborates with the Associate Provost to ensure high-quality academic programs and services are supported and delivered at the campus level
- Works with academic school deans to ensure all academic and non-academic programs are coordinated and effective on the campus
- Collaborates with the Provost, campus and school deans, and faculty to maintain accreditation standards and enhance curriculum offerings
- Promotes and supports a culture of teaching and learning excellence
Student Success :
- Champions and supports initiatives that enhance student recruitment, retention, and completion in support of the College-wide strategic enrollment plan
- Supports the successful implementation of all campus student support services and programs to address the diverse needs of a campus-specific student body and culture
- Fosters a culture of open communication and embraces the diversity of the region in support of an inclusive campus environment
Community Engagement :
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with local communities, businesses, and educational partners to support and advance the College mission
- Seeks opportunities for partnerships, workforce development, and community outreach to support the College’s strategic goals
- Serves as the institution’s representative in communities connected to the local campus and as an ambassador for the
- College at various events and forums
- Represents the College President at various events and functions across Northeast Ohio and in the campus draw area
Financial and Resource Management :
- Oversees budget planning and resource allocation for the campus
- Leads the campus through responsible fiscal management and effective utilization of financial and other institutional resources
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify and secure additional funding sources and grant opportunities
- Works collaboratively with facilities management and plant operations to successfully maintain campus facilities to create and sustain a safe and positive campus environment
Personnel Management :
- Recruits, mentors, and develops the campus leadership team
- Fosters a culture of professional growth and development among staff and faculty
- Creates a supportive and inclusive campus environment for students, faculty and staff
- Addresses personnel matters in a fair and equitable manner in accordance with current Human Resources policies and guidance
- Collaboratively and successfully works with unions representing the College’s employee groups
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE / TRAINING
- Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution
- Minimum of ten years of demonstrated experience including :
- Executive-level leadership and administration
- Accreditation and / or compliance standards
- Developing and managing budgets
- Fundraising and / or grant writing and grant administration
- Teaching in higher education
- Effectively developing strategies and making decisions that have significant, broad implications on the management and operations of a division (or equivalent business area)
- Effectiveness requiring dynamic and analytical problem-solving methods in a variety of situations
- Successful board relations
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of higher education theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and / or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
- Possess understanding of a large urban educational environment
- Possess understanding of the complexity of working in a multi-site environment and an ability to work collaboratively across the organization
- Ability to develop and implement a vision for the campus that leverages its strengths and provides a strong programmatic identity within the context of the Cuyahoga Community College brand
- Ability to independently set goals and determine best course of action to achieve desired results
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and to enhancing teaching and learning
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all constituents
- Ability to establish mutually beneficial ties with industry and the local community
- Ability to develop, organize, and coordinate a wide variety of instructional programs to achieve College and Division goals
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, staff, and faculty throughout the college and external partners
- Must be open-minded, a creative thinker and problem solver
- Ability to lead College teams in projects and the development of new programs and projects
- Possess excellent planning, organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Demonstrated advanced project management skills
- Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
- Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects
- Ability to facilitate top-level collaboration while managing sensitive issues
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance workflow and quality
- Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population
