Summary
Mt. Lakes Country Day School is looking for an Assistant teacher in our Preschool classroom. There are between 18-20 children, ages 3-4 years old.
You work as part of a team of 3 with one Lead teacher and another assistant, giving the classroom a ratio of either 1 : 6 or 1 : 7, depending on the day.
It is a very rewarding job and we have the lowest teacher to child ratios in the area. Our teaching assistants engage in simple activities with the children that are developmentally appropriate, i.
e. table top floor activities, reading, art projects, etc.
Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 : 30-4 : 30, with a half hour paid lunch break. Benefits include paid time off, paid professional development, and competitive wages.
Duties
To ensure the care, safety and well being of all children in the group.
Maintain the confidentiality of all children and families.
To carry out activities planned by the Lead Teacher.
To maintain a safe, clean and pleasant environment at all times.
To demonstrate an increasing understanding of child growth and development in working with children.
To report accident / injury and unusual incidents to administration.
To participate in staff meeting discussions regarding the program and activities.
To participate in professional development seminars as required by the state.
To follow all hand washing and food preparation procedures as required by the state and GNJK standards.
To keep a line of open communication between the staff as well as the parents of the children in your care.
Requirements
An increasing understanding of child development and the developmentally appropriate stages children go through.
The willingness to read, learn, and increase an understanding of child development through workshops and study.
The ability to role model for children, other staff members, and parents.
The willingness to accept supervision from lead teacher.
The special ability to maintain positive relationships with children, coworkers and parents.

About Us
Mountain Lakes Country Day School provides quality care for infants, ages 6 weeks to 18 months;toddlers, ages 18 to 36 months;
preschoolers, ages 3 to 4 years, andkindergartners, ages 4 to 6 years. Classrooms are broken down by age group and activities are planned for small groups on the principles of developmentally appropriate practices using The Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies.
Our center is open all year with limited closings for holidays and staff training.
