Job Description :
As the premier provider of Space Domain Awareness (SDA) mission solutions for the United States Space Force, L3Harris is seeking a lead software engineer to assist the team in transitioning a legacy system to a Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) compliant cloud-based platform.
The ideal candidate should have experience with the full software development lifecycle, embedded software development, orbital mechanics, optical surveillance system technologies including telescope control software, facility and dome control, and optical image processing software.
This position is onsite in Colorado Springs, CO and requires a Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions :
- Provide subject matter expert solutions with comprehensive knowledge of software engineering and in-depth knowledge of project management.
- Design, develop, and test software applications for large-scale operational systems.
- Develop and maintain software release pipelines for streamlining system deployment.
- Responsible for providing guidance, coaching, training, and mentorship to other junior employees on the team.
- Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction.
- Provides input into new products / processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
- Communicates with leadership regarding matters of importance to the functional or business area, including conducting briefings with leaders.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with at least 9 years of software development experience or graduate degree with at least 7 years of software development experience
- Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
- Experience developing software in C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Experience applying containerization technologies (e.g., Tanzu, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Experience with DevSecOps and developing CI / CD pipelines.
- Experience with Agile software development and the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to obtain Security+ certification in less than 60 days.
Preferred Additional Skills :
- Familiar with agile development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
- Previous experience with Department of Defense engineering.
- Previous experience with aerospace engineering, focusing on Ground Electro-Optical Systems.
- Active Security+ certification.
- Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $112,500 - $209,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
