Network Reliability Engineer (US East Coast - Remote)

What You'll Do

• Build, operate, and maintain the continually growing global network footprint of Fastly’s Edge Cloud Platform
• Develop innovative ways of monitoring the performance of the platform, with a focus on the experience of end users on the Internet.

Catch and remediate potential issues before they develop into impacting events

• Increase scalability by building self-healing automation to reduce manual interaction, including network & system configuration, capacity & performance management, and traffic engineering
• Responsibility for OSS tools, testing and adapting new technologies and tools for network
• Respond to both internal & external facing incidents. Use learnings from these events to help shape processes, automation and tooling to reduce future occurrences
• Advocate for the operational stability of the network. Look for areas of opportunity and partner with engineering teams in the scoping and prioritisation of their roadmaps and software solutions

What We're Looking For :

• Real-world experience in the protocols and practices that make up the fabric of the global internet, including IP, BGP, Anycast, and DNS
• Proficiency in Tier 1 Internet service providers and Internet exchanges
• Ability to think through edge cases and failure scenarios and expand & simplify network infrastructure globally
• Experience with coding / scripting, preferably in Python or Go
• Ability to analyse traffic patterns across multiple dimensions using flow-based tools
• Experience working with alerting, monitoring and visibility tools (such as Graphite / Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk)
• Experience across cloud hosting solutions (i.e., GCP, AWS and Azure)

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these :

• Experience of DevOps practices and CI / CD pipelines (ie. Git, Jenkins, Ansible)
• Experience with Linux / Unix
• Passionate about knowledge sharing and good documentation skills

Work Hours :

This position will require you to work during scheduled hours from 9 : 00am - 6 : 00pm.

Work Location & Travel Requirements :

This position is open to both New York City, NY and US East (Remote).

The preferred hybrid locations for this position are :

New York City, NY

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

We are also willing to consider remote candidates in US East (Remote).

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary :

The estimated salary range for this position is $133,200 to $166,500.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
