Central Connecticut State University invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors to join the Department of Psychological Science.

The successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Health Psychology (broadly conceptualized) as well as other courses in the undergraduate major (e.

g., Intro, Research Methods, History & Systems). They will also supervise master’s theses. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and work with a diverse student body.

The regular teaching load is 12 hours per semester with some evening classes required. We offer mentoring and an attainable track to receiving tenure.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria

Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following :

Education :

All applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Health Psychology or a closely related field. ABD candidates may be considered, but the Ph.

D. must be earned by the date of appointment (August 2025).

Experience and Training :

  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Health Psychology and other courses in the undergraduate major.
  • Ability to supervise master’s students.
  • Evidence of active research (e.g., publications and presentations at professional conferences).
  • Programmatic research plan.
  • Commitment to serving culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse communities.

Compensation and Employee Benefits

In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of Assistant Professor for 2024-2025.
