JOB DESCRIPTION
The OBR Cooling Towers Area Safety Manager (ASM) is responsible for overseeing, enforcing, and managing all safety measures during the pre-planning and the active phases of a construction project within the assigned region.
ASM prepares safe work documentation during the planning phase of a construction project. This position will require travel within the assigned region and outside of the assigned region occasionally to support the safety department.
ROLES / TASKS OF THE POSITION
- Drive changes to improve the safety of the OBR’s crews.
- Ensure that the Safety Policies created by OBR are effective in the execution of efficient safe work on a construction project.
- Provide safety expertise and OBR safety program support in areas including but not limited to employee, client, and facility safety, incident and accident investigations, OSHA regulatory and other licensing compliance.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills, ensures that job sites are planned & executed as safe as possible.
- Assist with executing OBR’s overall risk and safety strategy.
- Work closely with the OBR Corporate Safety Manager, Company Leadership, Site Superintendents, Site Foreman, project management, and customer EH&S groups to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Stay up to date on state and federal occupational safety regulations.
- Identify health and safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Assist OBR project management and field construction personnel with safe work process, development, and enforcement, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Task Hazard Analysis (THA) and Safe Work Procedures as required.
- Learn, understand, and enforce OBR safety procedures at jobsites.
- Maintain required safety documents / files including training records, hazard analysis, customer pre-qualification documents, etc.
- Investigate all incidents and report findings to management while ensuring corrective actions are implemented and effective.
- Conduct safety audits / inspections of OBR work crews at customer facilities.
- Construct site safety plans and JSA’s for each project.
- Construct reports from job site audits / inspections.
- Perform Site Safety Coordinator duties when needed.
- Oversee and drive the safety performance of the Southwest Region for OBR.
- Inspect safety equipment and replace as needed.
- Ensure the onboarding of new crew members is completed efficiently and timely.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Management, or similar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial health and safety role.
- Certifications such as CSHO, ASP, CSP preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour construction training required.
PREREQUISITES / REQUIREMENTS
- Negative 10 panel urinalysis and breath alcohol test
- Valid Driver’s License
- Proof of U.S. citizenship
- Score of a 2 or less in a DISA background screen
- Ability to obtain all badging necessary to work at TSMC in Phoenix.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
