Job description
SCOPE OF ROLE :
Reporting to the Director, Benefits, the Senior Benefits Manager is responsible for the implementation, communication, and efficient administration of our comprehensive benefit programs across Cornerstone Building Brands.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Work with Director of Benefits to refine and implement a long-term benefits strategy to provide cost-effective benefit programs that offer a competitive advantage in the attraction and retention of talent.
- Assist Director of Benefits in partnering with regional HR in Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica to gain a holistic view of the benefits offering across the company and help create a global strategy.
- Evaluate, develop, implement, and administer benefits policies and procedures.
- Maintain an understanding of the business and structure to create solutions that are aligned to the needs of the business and provide a positive employee experience.
- Provide hands-on oversight of the day-to-day administration of health and welfare benefits.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as industry best practices.
- Maintain excellent relationships with benefits consultants and vendors.
- Help drive employee understanding and appreciation of benefits programs through clear documentation, communication, and education.
- Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information and materials to employees and vendors.
- Work closely with Director of Benefits on all M&A activity, including benefits-related due diligence.
- Manage all aspects of the leave of absence process, including ADA accommodations, paid / unpaid medical and family leaves, and short-term and long-term disability benefit programs.
- Maintain an effective, consultative leave of absence and ADA accommodation process ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
Ensure efficient workflow between the benefits / leave team, HR management and the business units.
- Oversee complex escalated leave of absence and ADA issues; provide recommendations to management and the internal compliance team.
- Resolve complex benefits issues and inquires.
- Work with internal audit to successfully deliver audit requirements.
- Supervise a team of benefits analysts, setting goals, assigning tasks, monitoring performance and providing feedback and coaching.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in support of ongoing administration of plans and programs.
PEOPLE & CULTURE LEADERSHIP :
- Provides leadership, coaching and support to a team of direct reports.
- Builds a high performing team of benefits professionals and fosters a continuous improvement culture.
- Acts as a catalyst for aligning teams around core strategies and priorities.
- Provides coaching, feedback, and performance management to promote culture of high standards and performance.
- Fosters a culture, including ways of working and behaviors, which is congruent with our mission, values, and Behaviors & Mindsets.
- Serves as a role model and champion for employee engagement and retention efforts.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
- Minimum of 10 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration.
- Focused on employee experience.
- Ability to lead a variety of projects from start to finish.
- Process improvement oriented.
- Demonstrated success in a dynamic, frequently changing, and fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information to diverse audiences.
- Able to provide direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner and ensure follow through.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to evaluate and improve benefits programs.
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, ADA and other applicable federal and state regulations.
- Leadership, management, and team building skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop team members.
