Overview
As our HR Specialist , you will be responsible for administrating leaves under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and OTC’s company leave of absence program.
Additionally, this role is responsible for supporting the Human Resources departmental programs and communications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Administers Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and company leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with federal and company practices.
- Coordinate organizational programs related to OTC’s culture such as Employee Service Awards, concert / sporting tickets and employee events.
- Support Human Resources organizational development programs such as the internship program, engagement survey, and the coordination of trainings.
- Assist with the hiring process as needed and completes onboarding of corporate employees.
- Process purchase orders for the Human Resources team.
- Facilitate communications on behalf of the HR team upon request.
- May help with scanning of documents and filing processes.
- Maintains regular, predictable attendance.
- Abides by all policies and procedures of the Human Resource Department and Oriental Trading Company
Marginal Functions
- Identifies and resolves potential issues within the absence management function
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient working knowledge of PC applications to include Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access as well as a desire and aptitude to learn various computer systems and applications
- Detail oriented and possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and adjust to shifting priorities and interruptions
- Strong oral communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle and safeguard confidential information on a daily basis
- Ability to perform job duties in a safe manner
Education
High School diploma required.
Experience
- HR or administrative experience also preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility preferred.
