Description
JOB SUMMARY :
The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant will support aspects of finance and accounting for the company, mainly as they relate to billing, accounts payable and receivable, and project accounting.
This position also requires general accounting responsibilities including journal entries, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and accruals.
Job Duties are, but are not limited to : Preparing monthly project invoicing, Accounts payable and receivable, Cash, project, and general ledger reporting.
Assist with the monthly and year-end closing of the financial statements. Expense Reports analysis for month-end close. Performs general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Preparation of standard / adjusting journal entries
- Assist with the Monthly Close Process
- Performs general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, accruals, and prepaid expenses
- Responsible for Accounts payable coding and processing
- Responsible for Accounts receivable including the posting of cash receipts to open accounts receivable invoices
- Able to analyze information by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information
- Research and interpretation of accounting data
- Responsible for Monthly Billing Cycle including processing monthly project billing invoices
- Responsible for ensuring accurate processing of general ledger payroll transactions
- Track and review the job cost and total company expenditures
- Proficient in creating Excel Spreadsheets
- Recommends changes to accounting procedures for process improvement where opportunities exist
- Knowledge of the FAR and federal contract audit, timekeeping, and cost / pricing principles including cost allocation and indirect costs
- Assist with special projects as needed including but not limited to annual audits
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :
- Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint or a complex ERP system required (other than QuickBooks or Peachtree)
- Ability to prioritize and work in a multi-tasked environment
- Understanding of AP, AR, and Payroll functions and associated processes and controls
- Adept in General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Processes
- Must be proficient in Excel, including Pivot Tables and V Lookup
- Strong analytical, and computer skills and knowledge of accounting software are essential
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- EDUCATION : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, 6+ years of related experience
- Deltek Cost Point software experience, 2 or more years a plus(Preferred)
- Strong AP, AR / Billing, and Payroll experience required
- Experience in a small business project management environment is a plus
- Experience with government contracting and billing is a plus
- Must be creative with exceptional analytical and conceptual skills.
- Deadline-oriented with the ability to multi-task and re-prioritize when needed
- Ability to work extra hours during peak periods
