Phoenix Senior Living is seeking a Property Accountant to join their team!
The Property Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
PURPOSE
As the Property Accountant, you will serve as an integral part of our organization preparing financial reports for numerous properties under management of Phoenix Senior Living.
This role will be critical in delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting to key internal and external stakeholders.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial accounting and reporting for our senior housing properties.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for senior housing properties, including coordination with accounts payable and accounts receivable personnel, general ledger maintenance, prepare month end close entries and bank reconciliation management.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
- Reconcile and resolve variances on the general ledger.
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables.
- Collaboration with Finance Planning and Analysis personnel for your dedicated communities budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with property management teams to develop accurate projections.
- Monitor property performance metrics and provide financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning efforts.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to senior housing accounting and reporting.
- Adhere to internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including property management, operations, and finance, to support business objectives and initiatives.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in senior housing accounting, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Engaging in ongoing educational opportunities to update job knowledge.
- Provide support for your dedicated senior housing properties’ Executive Directors and Business Office Managers on ad-hoc and regular basis.

Requirements
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LICENSURE- CERTIFICATION / SKILLS
- Bachelors degree in Accounting,
- A minimum of 2 years of proven experience is required as Property Accountant
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
- Hands-on experience in spreadsheets and accounting software (i.e., Excel, Yardi, Point Click Care)
- Proficiency in English and in MS Office (i.e., Word & Excel)
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
- Excellent communication, research, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, efficiency, and accountability.
- Experience with Senior Housing Property or medical GL, a plus.
- CPA or Masters Degree, a plus.
