Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Senior Data Scientist to solve business challenges using advanced analytics and deliver through others, by leading a project or by sharing their technical skill set.
- Specific duties include : lead a project team to collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and structure an advanced analytical solution to solve it;
- lead a project team to scan a broad spectrum of data sources to define the optimal data set for testing the hypotheses; partner across the organization to connect data sources to build the data set;
- lead a project team to prepare data sets to build / rebuild / refresh predictive models; lead a project team to design, develop and validate models built using a variety of modeling techniques;
- lead a project team to work with stakeholders to develop a strategy on how to use the model to generate the desired impact;
- lead a project team to work with stakeholders after deployment to ensure that impact is achieved; build and deploy predictive models and machine learning models;
- monitor model accuracy and work with stakeholders to ensure the model generates the desired impact; work with cross-functional teams to put models into production and provide support on IT implementation and system integration of models;
develop best practices and improvements to analytic techniques to solve business challenges; and establish, maintain and grow collaborative relationships across the organization.
Option to work remotely is available with required travel to Schaumburg, IL HQ 1-2 times per year.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Data Science Intern, Teaching Assistant, Business Analyst, Data Engineer, or similar position solving business challenges using advanced analytics.
In the alternative, will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Data Science Intern, Teaching Assistant, Business Analyst, Data Engineer, or similar position solving business challenges using advanced analytics.
- Specific experience must include : performing statistical and mathematical analysis of data; mapping business requirements to technical solutions;
- coding in a modern programming language, such as Python, C++, Java, Rust, Julia, or similar; training and selection of machine learning and AI models, such as GLMs, causal inference, tree-based methods, deep-learning methods, multi-view geometry, simulations, Monte Carlo methods, non-convex optimization methods, or similar;
- working with version control software and best practices, such as Github, SVN, Azure DevOps, or similar; working with MLOps and the model development lifecycle;
- working with data visualization techniques and frameworks; working with databases, such as SQL, noSQL, transactional, vector, or similar;
- working with big data tooling and languages, such as Hive, Spark, MapReduce, Scala, BigQuery, or similar; working with software testing frameworks, such as pytest, unittest, or similar;
- working with agile software development process such as scrum, kanban, XP, or similar and tools, such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, or similar;
and communicating with stakeholders. Option to work remotely is available with required travel to Schaumburg, IL HQ 1-2 times per year.
