Our client, a growing small manufacturer based in Walker, MI, is seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Bookkeeper to join their team.
This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys managing a variety of tasks, has a solid understanding of accounting principles, and thrives in an environment with a high degree of autonomy.
You will be the go-to person for the company's bookkeeping and office management needs, ensuring the smooth operation of the business's financial and administrative functions.

Responsibilities :
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
- Handle payroll processing and support light HR administrative tasks
- Reconcile bank statements and balance accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures
- Prepare and generate regular financial reports, including budget status reports for management
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes and collaborate with external CPAs or consultants as needed
- Monitor schedules for notes payable and receivable, and ensure proper accounting for bonds, securities, and interest
- Cross-check financial data, verify accuracy, and maintain ledgers and journals
- Assist with invoicing, credit, and collections processes
- Utilize Sage accounting software for daily operations and financial management
- Provide light office support duties as necessary, such as reception and administrative tasks
Qualifications :
- 5+ years of experience as a full-charge Bookkeeper / Accountant, preferably in a small company environment
- 2+ years of experience in payroll processing
- High school diploma required; additional education in accounting or finance is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general accounting software; experience with Sage is highly preferred
- Strong general ledger experience
- Ability to analyze facts, solve problems, and make informed decisions with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail
Preferred Skills :
- Experience preparing budget status reports and financial forecasts
- Familiarity with credit and collections processes
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or related industry is a plus
