We are seeking an experienced Controller, preferably in the Dallas / Fort Worth area but the role will be hybrid and not require a daily presence in our Fort Worth office.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will be the right hand of the CFO, ensuring accuracy in GAAP / POC financial results, simplifying and standardizing processes and implementing system enhancement and other processes to ensure we continue to scale.
This role will be responsible for the management of accounting operations necessary to support the business and satisfy reporting and compliance requirements.
The controller must be a strong communicator, possess the ability to interface with leaders at all levels, be process oriented and have the ability to build and develop strong teams.
The Controller will also be involved in tax matters and will manage payables, annual financial statement audit, tax return preparation and strategic tax matters.
Experience in cash management and lender reporting is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Financial Reporting and Compliance :
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across multiple operating entities including an income, balance sheet and cash flow statements under U.
S. GAAP and using POC revenue recognition methodology.
- Enhance close process with close calendar and clear responsibilities; continuously increase efficiency, shorten close cycle, and reduce complexity.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, Percent of Completion revenue recognition.
- Coordinate and manage annual audits, preparation of tax returns, and compliance matters.
- Internal Controls and Risk Management :
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Team Leadership and Development :
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and training.
- Assist in creating an internal shared service organization versus current business unit structure.
- Systems :
- Continue to improve Deltek vision and play a key role in the migration to Deltek Vantage Point.
- Work with CFO to enhance monthly analysis and develop reporting to leadership, sponsor, and the Board.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within financial systems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA required.
- Experience : Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role preferably in a private equity owned firm.
Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry is desirable.
Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of GAAP, POC revenue recognition, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems with Deltek Advantage strongly preferred. Advanced Excel skills.
