Registered Respiratory Therapist
Job Description
Compass Government Solutions is currently hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist at the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) to include locations in Tucson, Siera Vista, Green Valley, and Yuma to care for our US Veterans for a rotating, coverage position during periods of vacancies in a 24 / 7 clinic, to include holidays.
Job Requirements of the Registered Respiratory Therapist :
Ability to perform independently basic and acute respiratory care, administration of oxygen and aerosol therapy, positive pressure devices (BIPAP), CPAP, & IPV), ventilator care to include advanced techniques, pressure control modality and associated ventilator adjustment and monitoring with / without graphs.
Assists / insures that appropriate recommendations are given to the physicians regarding changes in therapy
- Able to assess respiratory status of patients using data acquired through observation and clinical analysis of blood gas data, chest x-rays and electrocardiograms to determine effectiveness of therapy administered
- Assisting with trauma and code calls, participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation to include the administration of routing, complex, and emergent respiratory care to patients
- Transport and monitor patients in specialty areas; i.e., CT scan, X-ray, bronchoscopy
- Assisting with endotracheal intubation, extubation, tracheal lavage, and tracheotomy care
- Developing plans for weaning patients from mechanical ventilation, and monitoring patients using oximetry, electro-cardiology, and apnea monitoring devices
- Able to perform arterial blood gas sampling and electrocardiograms and accurately interpret data and report any inappropriate / critical results to the Physician
Qualifications
Qualifications of the Registered Respiratory Therapist :
- A minimum of two (2) years’ current experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting including covering inpatient units, ED and ICU
- Certificate as an RRT from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Registry Number or Certificate to perform as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC
- Current on Continuing Medical Education (CME) / Certified Education Units (CEU)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
