Position Overview
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who is educatedin the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain,maintain, and restore health when possible.
Competency is determined bydemonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required forthis position. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the NursingProcess within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards ofPractice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and ANA Nursing Scope andStandards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards,the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Planfor Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
As such, this performanceevaluation is based on these standards.

Graduate from NLN School of Nursing
License :
Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as aRegistered Nurse.
Certifications :
All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLScertification upon hire and / or transfer. RNs working in the below specialtyareas are required to complete and maintain certifications as listed :
Cath Lab ACLS
Cardiac Rehab ACLS
Congestive Heart Failure ACLS
Cardiovascular Surgery - ACLS
Emergency Department ACLS, PALS, TNCC
Endoscopy ACLS, PALS
Intensive Care Units ACLS
Labor & Delivery ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation)
Medical Nursing OB / GYN - PALS

RNs have 12 months, from the date they begin working in thespecialty area, to acquire the appropriate certification and 18 months toacquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department.
Must have de-escalation training completed by the end ofposition orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalationtraining.
Experience :
A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience,preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidenceof successful refresher program.

Physical Demands :
Work is moderately active : involves sitting with frequentrequirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travelto another facility within the SRHS service area.
Work involves exerting anegligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwisemove objects, including the human body.
Work involves using many physical motions in performingdaily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues,which may carry the hazard of infectious disease.
Work involves usingrepetitive motions : substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingerswhile operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard.
Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound atnormal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make finediscriminations in sound.
Work requires close visual and acuity and the abilityto adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, shift gaze fromviewing a computer monitor to forms / printed material that are closer to comparedata at close vision.
Must be able to be active for extended periods of timewithout experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work schedules assignedwith the understanding that changes may be instituted according to the needs ofthe hospital for off days, shifts or weekends.
Mental Demands :
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties / assessment anddecision making abilities. Must demonstrate superiorcommunication / speaking / enunciation skills to receive and give information inperson and by telephone.
Must demonstrate strong written and verbalcommunication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive todealing with high stress levels.
Must demonstrate ability to work underpressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complexsituations is required. Must have the ability to maintain collaborativeand respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
Special Demands :
Must possess superior customer service skills andprofessional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability touse a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (,telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgmentand apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
