Role Description

This is a part-time role for an AI / ML Dev. Engineer at Whissle. You will lead the development of core AI Engine and API for our models, similar to platforms like OpenAI and Deepgram, and drive the technical direction of the project.

As the lead, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing a scalable, secure, and user-friendly platform that integrates our next-gen voiceAI models.

Candidate should have experience with NVIDIA Nemo / Riva / Tensor-RT frameworks, as well as exposure to FairSeq (from Meta) along with other open-source speech toolkits.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of an API tailored to showcase Whissle’s AI models, providing developers with accessible and well-documented APIs.
• Architect, design, and implement a scalable and secure platform that integrates with our AI and machine learning models in our models
• Plan and add integration of our API to external services and tools.
• Oversee the creation of comprehensive API documentation, developer guides, and tutorials to support external developers and partners.
• Collaborate closely with research and development teams to ensure seamless integration of AI models into the platform.
• Drive technical decisions, establish best practices, and mentor junior team members in platform development and API integration.
• Continuously optimize platform performance, scalability, and security to meet the demands of real-time AI interactions.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in AI, machine learning, and API development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in speech streaming inference at scale, software engineering, with a focus on developing platforms for voice based models and APIs.
• Experience with NVIDIA Nemo / Riva / Tensor-RT frameworks, as well as exposure to FairSeq (from Meta) along with other open-source speech toolkits.
• Strong background in platform architecture, development, and deployment, with experience in leading technical teams.
• Expertise in API development, Webhooks for streaming, RESTful services, and integrating machine learning models into production platforms.
• Familiarity with building platforms similar to OpenAI, Deepgram, Assembly AI or other AI model-serving platforms.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of guiding and mentoring technical teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in optimizing platform performance and ensuring security.
• Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI / ML, or a related field.
