Summary of functions

Performs presorting of linens into specified classifications according to type of linen. Weighs soiled linens and records volume weight on daily volume log sheet.

Areas of responsibility include chemical use, hoist operation, laundry bag identification, and operation of formula charts and washing machines.

Clean sorting tables, floors, walls and equipment as required. Stain treats linens with oil or tape on them, using special chemicals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands and ensures compliance to health, safety and environmental requirements and regulations as applicable to the laundry operation. (Tribal, State and Federal)
  • Examine and sort articles to be cleaned, according to color, fabric, and soiled content required.
  • Communicates with all internal customers and gives updates when linens are delayed.
  • Addresses internal customers in a pleasant, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Communication is succinct, concise and to the point.
  • Abides all safety regulations. Uses safety equipment where required. Uses all equipment, machinery, cleaning products and materials issued strictly according to the proper methods and or instructions.
  • Keeps all customers information confidential. .
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
  • Ensures control / protection of company assets.
  • Ensures compliance with Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Internal Controls, and KTEA Policies and Procedures.
  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for business Levels.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Must have verbal ability to discuss job requirements and problems with the laundry manager.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with department head and team members.
  • Excellent organization skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to be proactive and remain positive in a multi-tasking, high demand position.
  • Flexible with scheduling to operations demands.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • No prior experience is necessary / will train

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Kalispel Work Permit.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Hepatitis A & B vaccinations

  • Constantly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
  • Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, shoulders, hands and / or fingers.
  • Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and / or hands and arms.
  • Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Hazards

  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Potential contact with hazardous chemicals.
  • Potential contact with steam heated surfaces.
  • Potential contact with sharp items in soiled linens such as needles or razors.
