Responsibilities :
- Demonstrate strong, clear leadership through consistent communication and direction, and assume direct responsibility for achieving sales goals for an assigned therapeutic franchise and geography.
- Instill culture of high engagement and proactive and open communication. Set expectations and high standards of performance for each team member.
Coach and mentor managers on efficient sales, people management and communication techniques. Accurately assess team's performance, identify, and maximize talents, provide growth and development opportunities, and appropriately allocate rewards / recognition within Sales Area
Direct and align efforts related to business strategic plan; ensure Area achieves Astellas' long-term goals; effectively manage budget and allocate resources;
monitor sales trends and competitor activities.
Maximize productivity and sales effectiveness by executing marketing plans and promotional activities that cater to the special needs of selling for a designated therapeutic environment.
Ensure high level of collaboration with alliance partners to maximize joint efforts.
Manage and understand trends and human resource needs related to recruitment, performance management, selection, and development.
Lead geography recruitment and development programs, suggesting improvements based on experience to achieve diversity of talent.
Provide ethical leadership and demonstrate Astellas' values by adhering to corporate policies and required sales practice regulations.
Ensure each Manager and Representative within region understands, accepts, and adheres to the policies and procedures.

Quantitative Dimensions :
- Responsible for overseeing and leading a Sales area of approximately 55-70 employees.
- Direct management on average of 6-8 Regional Sales Managers
- Directly responsible for providing the leadership and direction for Sales Area to achieve annual sales targets.
- High level of skill in developing and maintaining relationships and interacting with internal cross-functional Astellas departments and external customers, such as Key Opinion Leaders
- Demonstrates the leadership and competencies required in a leadership role.
Organizational Context :
- One of six Director level positions that reports to the Women’s Health Head of Sales.
- Leads area of regional sales managers and sales representative.
Requirements
Qualifications Required :
- BA / BS degree
- At least 10 years pharmaceutical selling experience with an additional 2-3+ years pharmaceutical management experience.
- Demonstrated track record of success in sales leadership.
- Extensive knowledge of sales processes and pharmaceutical products and industry.
- Sustained high performance and competency.
- Demonstrated skill in strategic visioning, leadership agility and business acumen.
- Consistently demonstrating high competency and skill level in prior sales roles
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- High motivational and persuasion skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proactive; skilled at problem solving; takes ownership of situations.
- Documented record of high sales performance and achievement.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to travel at least 75% of the time, including overnight travel.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
Preferred :
- Sales management experience on launch product.
- Lives in assigned geography.
- Sales experience in dynamic and competitive marketplace.
- Previous successful experience in sales training, analytics, marketing, or health systems roles either as a people manager or leading teams on projects (in addition to the pharmaceutical selling experience).
- Advanced degree.

Compensation : $158,300 211,000 (NOTE : Final salary could be more or less, commensurate with experience)
