Overview
Basic Function The food runner supports the restaurant staff by assisting with delivering food from the kitchen to the guests.
This position will also assist with prioritizing orders to maintain efficient workflows, ensure plating and food presentation are arranged neatly, garnished appropriately, and delivered as requested by the guest.
This position is also responsible for addressing any immediate needs or concerns of the guest and communicating back to the kitchen as necessary.
Assists in setting up and clearing tables. Assists in setup and breakdown of other food service areas. Essential Functions Act as a point of contact between Front of House and Heart of House staff.
Coordinates with service staff, expeditor, kitchen and management regarding meal timing, firing, and table delivery. In the absence of the expeditor will communicate food orders to chef and line cooks, while focusing on priorities including food allergies.
Ensure food is served according to safety standards. Deliver prepared food items according to seating position as indicated on meal tickets.
Complete opening and closing side work, including wiping, and wrapping silver, and folding linens. Provide quick and attentive assistance to any mishap in the restaurant.
Be familiar with all property amenities and events. Ability to effectively greet guests as they arrive or move about the restaurant area.
Maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant and work areas. Marginal Functions Provide support in all other areas of the hotel, as requested.
Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. One year restaurant experience, preferred.
Pleasant and engaging personality. Excellent communication skills. Superior guest service experience. California Food Handlers Card (must have within 14 days of employment) and RBS Certification (within 30 days of employment).
Neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance and personal hygiene. Effective verbal communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, and understand English to receive training and instructions, interact with guests and other associates.
Must be comfortable with standing and walking for long periods of time on your feet Must be able to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $16.00 / Hr. - $17.00 / Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
