We are looking for a Tax Research Assistant to support our payroll team in auditing and managing tax compliance and resolving outstanding issues.
This short-term role is essential for ensuring that our tax accounts are accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities :
- Research Tax Notices : Investigate tax notices by accessing online resources or contacting state and local agencies to gather required information.
- Account Management : Assist in cleaning up old tax accounts and ensuring they are correctly registered, including those for both the US and Canada.
- Filing Missing Returns : Research and confirm whether missing tax returns have been filed and determining the appropriate steps to file missing returns, including any penalties or zero returns.
- Access Issues : Help resolve access problems for online tax accounts by contacting agencies to update administrator information and remove outdated contacts.
Qualifications :
- Strong research and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with tax processes within payroll is required.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with state and local agencies.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- This position will work onsite in our Lavergne, TN Headquarters Monday-Friday*
