We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Tax Specialist to join our team. As a Senior Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with taxes for our organization.
You will play a vital role in the tax planning and reporting process, while maintaining adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Job Description
Essential Functions :
Tax Planning and Compliance :
- Understand and research a variety of complex tax issues, and conduct analysis of tax laws, regulations, and rulings to ensure compliance with corporate and indirect taxes
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the organizations tax position
- Prepare and review tax returns, which may include income taxes, sales tax, and other applicable tax filings
- Interpret and review changes to tax laws and regulations, present varied impact scenarios to stakeholders and lead the implementation of the necessary adjustments
Tax Reporting and Documentation :
- Prepare accurate and timely tax reports, schedules, and documentation required for internal and external reporting purposes
- Lead and collaborate with cross-functional workgroups to gather necessary financial and operational data for tax reporting
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all tax-related documentation, including reviewing documentation of junior team members, maintaining proper records and supporting documentation for audits and inquiries
Corporate Tax
- Analyze, prepare, and review book to tax differences, deferred tax assets, liabilities, and valuation allowance schedules under the rules of ASC 740
- Prepare and review taxable income and cash tax forecasts for key stakeholders
- Calculate estimated tax payments across all jurisdictions as needed
- Prepare technical memorandum documenting tax issues
- Analyze transfer pricing strategies and maintain policies in place
- Coordinate with third party tax consultants related to tax compliance, tax provision, transfer pricing, and other projects as needed
Tax Audit Support :
- Lead tax audits by coordinating with external auditors and tax authorities, escalate issues to team leader when necessary
- Provide required documentation and explanations to support the organizations tax positions during audits
- Review and respond to inquiries and notices from tax authorities, resolving any issues and discrepancies
Tax Advisory and Risk Management :
- Provide expert advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on tax-related matters, including potential risks and opportunities
- Develop subject matter expertise to support the international subsidiary planning and strategy, and provide recommendations for tax changes when necessary
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations to identify potential risks and opportunities for the organization
- Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and legal, to ensure tax implications are considered in business decisions and transactions
Continuous Improvement
- Understand complex tax processes, monitor efficiency and effectiveness metrics, and enhance process utilizing insights and best practices
- Stay updated with emerging tax technologies and tools to enhance the effectiveness and accuracy of tax related tasks
- Identify and participate in professional development opportunities, such as trainings or certifications to expand tax knowledge and skills of the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance or combination of equivalent education, experience or superior performance
- 4+ years of relevant tax experience with indirect or corporate taxes
- Skilled at performing tax research and applying findings to work product
- Proficient knowledge of tax preparation programs and tax compliance
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in a teaming environment and with all levels of management
- Strong PC skills including high proficiency in Excel with ability to manipulate datasets
- Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism with the ability to deal with difficult, sensitive and confidential material
- Exceptional aptitude for accuracy and timeliness
- Flexible and dependable
- ASC 740 exposure and its application to corporate taxes
- Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, Accounting)
