Position title : Attorney Care Management
Reporting Relationship : Care Management General Counsel / Program Director
Responsibilities
The attorney will perform duties including, but not limited to :
- Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
- Reports directly to Care Management General Counsel.
- Consult with Care Management staff as necessary to obtain additional information that would be helpful to develop complaints, motions, and other pleadings for filing with the court.
- Prepares, or oversees the preparation of : pleadings, motions, objections, affidavits, briefs, memoranda of law, discovery requests, and relevant correspondence.
- Collect and manage information from Family Case Managers and Team Leaders to present in court.
- Provides representation of assigned Care Management cases. This includes presenting evidence in hearings, contested trials and specialty dockets.
- Be responsive to defense attorneys, prosecutors, other collateral professionals, as well as care management caseworkers and leadership staff.
- Conducts any appropriate legal research. Counsel and advise Care Management staff as appropriate.
- Maintains confidentiality of all Care Management files, records, and related information in his / her possession.
- Become proficient on related computer systems such as SACWIS, CIO, and all relevant court filing and docketing systems.
- Supervise Care Management staff in court setting and assist service teams in forming and presenting recommendations to the court.
- Assist Care Management General Counsel in providing and presenting appropriate legal training to Care Management staff.
- Participate in utilization review process and make recommendations to court related placements, diverting youth from restrictive placements into less restrictive community-based placements.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned commensurate with his / her position and qualifications.
- Act as a NYAP ambassador in all dealings with all stakeholders and the public.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Must hold a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school, be admitted to the Bar of Ohio and currently licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio, and be in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court and maintain all requirements for continued licensing.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Driving and Vehicle Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000 / $300,000 bodily injury liability
