Job Function The manufacturing engineer will determine the optimal way to manufacture a product from the customer’s blueprint.
As a custom manufacturer, Best Manufacturing is challenged with producing a wide variety of products efficiently and cost effectively.
The manufacturing engineer must find creative and inventive ways of using factory machine tools to produce these products.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
- Establishes routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, documentation, and quality plans for revisions to current operations and / or new parts or programs.
- Provides support and troubleshooting for current operations.
- Investigates, gathers, and analyzes data and implements solutions.
- Innovates and implements cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas.
- Designs operations layouts.
- Improves material flow and material presentation.
- Leads analysis, development, and implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology.
- Coordinates welding procedure qualifications and generating welding procedures to help the manufacturing and welding teams.
- Tooling / Fixture Design for weld processes.
- Programming and proving out robotic weld processes.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering / Technology discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, and / or vendors / contractors required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
- Must be able to work safely while wearing all required PPE.
- Must be able to work a significant amount of time in a shop floor environment working directly with other members of the team.
- Must be able to work in an non-climate controlled environment with a consistently high level of noise.
- Will provide Weld and Fabrication Manufacturing Engineering support and basic troubleshooting for current operations.
- Understand welding capabilities / processes and ability to program / troubleshoot machines both manual and robotic welding systems.
- Hands on experience with robotic systems and robotics programming.
- Experience in one or more related engineering areas : Industrial, Production, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, Quality.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, automation, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance, and facilities.
- Experience with engineering tools, systems, and databases.
