Responsible for DBA support for Prod SQL Servers
- Transactional Replication
- SQL Server Partitioning
- Always-ON Support / troubleshooting
- Performance tuning / DR capabilities
- Hands-On Production Support / Housekeeping
- Database Security
- On-call / Coverage etc.
DBA Responsibilities
- Stand-Alone Installation, configuration
- Maintain SQL Server Indexes, Statistics
- Establish and follow backup and recovery policies and procedures
- Maintenance and monitoring of SQL Agent Jobs in Production
- Enforce and monitor implement configurations standards
- Basic Database tuning and performance monitoring
- Restore Steps of all Production and Non-Production database environments
- Basic Always on Architecture and how to failover and fall back and troubleshooting steps
- Capacity planning for disks, CPU, memory, etc
- Manage and monitor indexes, .mdf files, .ldf files
- Move database files between LUNS to properly manage disk capacity as it relates to performance and physical space constraints across all environments
- Provide 24x7 on-call production support
- Work with the database development team to ensure proper naming conventions, efficient stored procedures and database designs are followed
- Meet with application client teams to review worst performing queries / code for continual improvement
- Monitor SQL and Windows Error Logs
- Clear all Warnings and Errors
- Create proactive processes to prevent recurring issues
- Monitor SCOM and Idera Alerts
- Assist the Dev Team with administration and proper configuration of production BI environments
