Position Summary
Working under the direction of the Controller, assists with the month-end closing and preparation of financial statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines.
Responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies as well as developing and adhering to internal control policies.
Duties include managing accounting staff, overseeing and performing balance sheet account reconciliations and assisting with financial audits.
Essential Duties
Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)
1. Employs best practices, policies and processes to monitor and ensure appropriate control environment.
2. Assists Controller in review and analysis of organization's financial statements. Helps to ensure accurate reporting, in compliance with GAAP, that outlines the company's financial position, activities and net earnings.
3. Identifies and explains trends as well as material variances vs. budget and prior periods.
4. Oversees accurate and timely reconciliations of all balance sheet general ledger accounts.
5. Assists Controller in preparation and support of annual financial audits, including organization's retirement plans, and subsequent filings of pertinent tax forms.
6. Instrumental in developing process improvements in accounting and its ancillary functions (ie. accounts payable, accounts receivable).
7. Maintains strong working relationships with all areas of organization and fulfills ad hoc requests as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The associate in this position has supervisory responsibility for designated associates in their department.
Education / Experience / Certificates / Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related major preferred.
- 5+ Years' experience in financial management required. 5+ Years' experience employing / managing accounting staff required.
- CPA preferred.
- Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
- Associates in this position will be required to successfully pass both state and federal criminal background checks and sex offender check.
- Ability to operate PC and databases, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and knowledge of accounting systems, required.
- 5+ Years working directly with external auditors and related processes, required.?

Physical Demands / Work Environment / Work Conditions
The associate is required to lift 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and / or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Walking or standing to a significant degree involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling.
- The associate works in a general office environment and is infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.).
