The Section of Genetic Medicine continues to shape the future of personalized medicine with successful research programs focused on the quantitative genetic and genomic science.
The Section provides valuable collaborations with investigators in the Department of Medicine who are seeking to develop new and more powerful ways to identify genetic risk factors for common, complex disorders with immediate clinical application.
Job Summary
The Li Lab is looking for a Staff Scientist to work on the analysis and interpretation of large genomic datasets for research projects aimed at understanding the contribution of genetic and non-genetic factors to molecular mechanisms such as RNA splicing and transcriptome diversity.
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, facilitate and advance technical / scientific research projects. Design, develop and test computational approaches for research (including computational, statistical methods, etc.).
- Collaborate with other researchers as appropriate.
- Participate in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-author scientific research manuscripts.
- May supervise other research staff.
- May present work at scientific meetings and provide peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts.
- The individual in this role will be involved in all aspects of the design, development, implementation, and analysis of research projects focused on computational methods for studying transcriptome diversity.
- Serve as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitate and promote a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.
- Develop laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.
- Perform other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Minimum requirements include a PhD in a related field.
Work Experience : Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Education :
Doctoral degree.
Experience :
- Experience in developing computational approaches.
- Experience with the analysis of large genomics data sets.
- Experience with assisting in the training, a strong publication record, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research.
