How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Operations Management Team, the Propulsion Business Operations Manager provides frontline leadership for a production team.

The Operations Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. He / she will drive critical KPIs in safety, quality, and delivery for a large and diverse section of our Locomotive facility.

In this role you will integrate and develop manufacturing processes that meet business needs, manage complex and personnel issues, be involved in short and long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience with increasing responsibility

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with heavy equipment manufacturing, electrical assembly, welding and / or fabrication
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Inclusive leader able to work in a cross-functional environment and engage functional stakeholders including HR, Finance and EHS
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify critical issues and identify the root cause of complex issues
  • Strong propensity for excelling in a demanding environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Ensure that your team is operating with the highest environmental health & safety (EHS) standards to drive down environmental & safety incidents, first aids, & recordable injuries.
  • Develop and implement plans to ensure the team meets schedule commitments and ensure production flow
  • Analyze production labor requirements, implementing appropriate capacity decisions within the department's budget
  • Drive key initiatives including EHS, Six Sigma, shop productivity, lean, and inventory cycle reductions
  • Champion site teaming culture, drive employee contribution and accountability
  • This role will lead both exempt and direct / HRLY paid team members he / she will demonstrate leadership in problem resolution, resource utilization and career counseling
  • Create & administer comprehensive training plans to ensure that your team members are equipped & trained to do their jobs.
  • Provide clear communication and operational guidance to management and other Wabtec employees on a daily basis.
  • Work as part of a cross functional team, driving a "one team" focus, dedicated to customer success within the shop.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry / site-specific work rules.
  • Work with various MRP, quality, and MES software systems to manage material and other systemic requirements.

What about the physical demands of the job?

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long durations of time and be mobile throughout the workday.

Employee must be able to effectively communicate (talk and hear), and use hands and fingers to handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls;

and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to operate a variety of automated office machines which includes a computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, etc.

Must be able to move or carry objects or materials.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
