Legal Secretary (DIRECT HIRE)
JOB DESCRIPTION As a Legal Secretary, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and legal team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our practice.
Your attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and understanding of legal procedures will contribute to our firm's success in advocating for clients who have suffered personal injuries.
JOB DUTIES :
Efficiently manage trial-related tasks and deadlines, including expert communications, discovery responses, subpoenas, depositions, and trial preparation.
Calculate and calendar statutory deadlines, ensuring proper time extensions for service by mail, email, or in-person delivery.
Prepare, draft, and file a range of legal documents, including complaints, minors' compensation claims, expert disclosures, demands, letters, and pleadings.
Ensure accuracy and compliance with court rules and regulations when preparing and submitting legal documents.
Facilitate communication between attorneys and expert witnesses, coordinating document exchange and scheduling consultations as needed.
Maintain a professional and organized system for tracking expert witness correspondence and information.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience as a legal secretary or paralegal, with a strong background in personal injury law.
Proven experience in trial preparation, expert communications, and managing statutory deadlines.
Familiarity with case management software, particularly CasePEER (preferred)
Proficiency in MS Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Thorough understanding of personal injury processes, including preparing and filing complaints, minors' compensation claims, and expert disclosures.
Ability to calculate and calendar deadlines accurately, considering various delivery methods.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with attorneys, clients, and experts.
Detail-oriented approach to document preparation, editing, and filing.
Knowledge of local court rules and procedures related to personal injury cases.
Associate's degree or relevant certification in legal studies is a plus.
