Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Assistant Director, Equal Opportunity and Title IX. This is a key position and is dedicated to the prompt, compassionate, and trauma-informed response to all reports received by the Center.

The position will play a pivotal role in advancing the institution’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment by ensuring compliance with federal and state civil rights laws and regulations.

Working closely with the Director, this position will assist in overseeing the Center’s operations, managing investigations into allegations of discrimination and harassment, providing support to individuals involved in civil rights processes, and implementing educational initiatives to promote awareness and prevention.

Additionally, the Assistant Director will supervise and oversee the Investigators.

Additional duties include but are not limited to :

Review complaints of discrimination based upon protected class status and / or sexual harassment and related allegations in violation of Federal and State laws, or University policies with limited assignment of allegations of sexual violence, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking;

assist investigator in identifying investigative plan

Review complaint notices, acknowledgements, updates, closure letters, and other correspondence

Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to facilitate equitable and prompt resolution of civil rights complaints

Maintain accurate records of civil rights complaints, investigations, and outcomes in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements

Assist the Director in developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with civil rights laws, including Title VI, Title II, Title IX, ADA and related regulations.

Manage and review investigations to ensure thorough, impartial, and timely investigations into complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other civil rights violations.

Represent the institution at conferences, seminars, and professional associations related to civil rights and diversity initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and five years of related professional work experience; OR a Master’s Degree or J.D. and three years of related professional work experience.

Related Experience :

Experience in a relevant field such as higher education administration, law, social work, or a related discipline.

Experience conducting investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, or related area

Experience developing and delivering training programs, workshops, or educational presentations
