Job Description
The RN Shift Supervisor works under the direction of a clinician and is responsible for oversight of hospital staff, patient care, employees, and the facility.
Duties when working as House Supervisor include directing and conducting administrative functions in the absence of department manager.
Typical Schedule
Nights, 12-hour shifts, every third weekend, holiday rotation.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current Wisconsin RN licensure or ability to obtain, required.
- 1+ years’ experience as an Emergency Department RN, required.
- 3+ years related experience in a hospital setting, preferred.
- BLS certification, required.
- ACLS certification (within 3 months of hire), required.
- PALs or ENPC (within 3 months of hire), required.
- TNCC (within 6 months of hire), required.
- NRP (within 3 months of hire), required.
Responsibilities Include :
- Ensures adequate staffing.
- Assign nurses to patients.
- Ensure nursing operational standards are met.
- Provide reports on productivity, quality and customer service metrics.
- Ensure all nurses follow policies and procedures.
- Train new team members.
- Evaluate nurses’ performance.
- Inform family members about medical procedures and doctors’ instructions.
- Handle complaints or other issues.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing psychological support to patients, family and friends.
- Provides patient care as needed.
