OVERVIEW
Hendall is seeking a Medical Records Technician to join our team. This position will support Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) which serves the public as a trusted partner and steward, dedicated to advancing health equity, expanding coverage, and improving health outcomes.
DUTIES
- Receives, processes, cleans, and sorts incoming mail from : UPS, FedEx, USPS, or other carriers
- Collects, maintains, and makes available to authorized users timely, accurate, secure and complete patient health information
- Provides authorized individuals with timely access to patient information without compromising the security of patient records
- Reviews returned patient records for completeness
- Ensures minimum necessary protected health information is used only for purposes identified or as required by law and not further disclosed without patient authorization
- Logs all mail into separate spreadsheets pertaining to each individual project
- Identifies and correctly distributes parcels and documentation
- Maintains a neat, organized work area
- Attends required education and training programs
- Complies with departmental policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned by the MRT Scanning Lead and Medical Records Request Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- H.S. Diploma, GED, or equivalent related experience
- 0 - 5 years of experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least six (6) months of medical record experience
- Knowledge of personal computer systems including MS Word and MS Excel
- Familiarity with department-required equipment (computers, copiers, fax machines, scanners)
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
