The Role
- The facilities maintenance mechanic will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs for facilities equipment.
- This role will also be responsible for small electrical or controls installation projects as needed on site.
- To comply & adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
Main tasks and responsibilities will include :
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and repairs on HVAC equipment including fans, humidifiers chillers, small boilers, DX units and others.
- Maintain reporting in CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
- Work with other maintenance mechanics to complete work orders, PM's and projects.
- Perform small repairs on HVAC equipment.
- Complete small electrical projects including installation of 120v and ethernet receptacles. Work with electrical contractors and provide support for larger electrical projects.
- Work closely with contractors and / or other maintenance personnel for larger repairs and new equipment installation projects
- Submit work orders, assign tasks to GMP maintenance mechanic group, verify that work assigned is completed and close out work orders as necessary
- Provide feedback to be included in SOP
- Perform and document work in compliance with SOP's, Safety Health & Environment, standards, and GMP to include in work orders, records, and logbooks.
- Work with Supervisors, Operators, Engineers, and other Mechanics to identify and implement opportunities to improve facility operations.
- Respond to multiple equipment / production problems and prioritize or change assignments as needed to meet production demands.
Additional tasks / responsibilities
- Communicate with equipment vendors regarding installation, operation, repair and parts.
- Order parts
- Request vendor assistance for repairs when required
- Oversee and coordinate vendor / contractor repair / maintenance
- Be able to read and understand equipment manuals, specifications, drawings, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job demands
The job may involve the following :
- Very high concentration of work with full shift in GMP production area
- Strict and tight deadlines
- Having to juggle a range of tasks / issues simultaneously
- Working in a hazardous environment with high requirement to follow safety procedures
- Be available for periodic call-ins outside of normal working hours when on call
- Responding to urgent calls
The Candidate
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent required; technical training, education or mechanic certification preferred
- 3+ years of industrial electrician experience or 3+ years of residential / commercial electrical experience combined with industrial maintenance experience.
- Understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
