Overview
To function as a member of the Department for Spiritual Care and Wholeness, providing pastoral care and counseling to patients, families and staff of the Health System.
This position serves all age groups in the Health System.

Responsibilities
Actively participates in patient care rounding and huddles on assigned areas contributing to the care plan for patients and families.
Assists patients in completion of Advanced Directives as requested
Provides direct spiritual / emotional care across the life span to patients, families and staff. Documents all patient consultations, encounters and spiritual assessments in timely manner.
Provides follow up referrals to other chaplains and other disciplines as appropriate. Provides educational leadership for patients, families, and staff to promote adjustment and promotes psychological growth.
Participates in departmental responsibilities including :
1. Leadership of or supports offering of requested rituals and services in support of patients and staff.
2. Timely response to emergency / urgent request for Chaplaincy services
3. Initiate and participates in Departmental Program / Educational Offerings to hospital and community
4. Support of Code Lavender as requested.
Participates in hospital committees and interdisciplinary efforts as requested or assigned in support of the vision and mission of the department and the Health System.
Provides support of the Clinical Pastoral Education Program and Congregational Nursing Program as requested
Qualifications
EDUCATION : Masters, Required
Master?s degree in Divinity from an accredited seminary or equivalent required. One year Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or its equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE : No Experience required beyond the completion of one year of CPE
Preferred : Some congregational experience and previous health care chaplaincy experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRY / LISTING : REQUIRED
Eligible for certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains or Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), or another approved Health Care Chaplaincy Certifying body, i.
e., Association of Jewish Chaplains (AJC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP), Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) or other certified body.
Must achieve certification within three years of hire date.
