The Role

OWL Services is looking for an Instructional Designer to join their Training and Development team. In this role, you will create compelling learning programs for employees throughout our organization.

Use your knowledge of curriculum design and multimedia tools to develop training ranging from individual courses to entire career development pathways.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Performance

  • Identify and analyze gaps in learning performance.
  • Identify training needs using appropriate methods and tools.
  • Define and document learning objectives.
  • Map learning outcomes to business needs.
  • Design and collect metrics to demonstrate evidence of program effectiveness.

Course / Curriculum Development

  • Structures broad curriculum design, from needs assessment to content delivery / curriculum launch.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop training content to be delivered via eLearnings, videos, job aids, or instructor-led training materials.
  • Develops, designs, and creates learning experiences and environments.
  • Designs learning activities, assignments, and assessments.
  • Creates computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards.
  • Develops facilitator and participant guides and other performance support tools.
  • Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content.
  • Keeps current on best practices in instructional design.
  • Writes scripts for video and audio content.

Partnerships

  • Build and manage relationships with multiple teams and business units to align skill teams’ training needs to learning solutions.
  • Support partnering teams with training, planning implementation, and logistics.
  • Investigate and identify new training solutions to align with evolving organizational needs.
  • Assist team with administration of Docebo learning management system, including course management and end user training.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate training environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources / Workforce Planning, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of instructional theory and different learning modalities including assessment / evaluations.
  • Project management skills and ability to communicate project plans and progression using appropriate tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Positive, proactive attitude and work style.

Skills and Software Proficiencies :

  • Develop deliverables in a variety of learning delivery modalities using commercially available development software (any / all of the following : Captivate, Camtasia Studio, Storyline / Articulate)
  • Visual design / graphic skills (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • SharePoint
  • Audio / video editing skills
  • Eager and willing to learn new technologies to meet learning demands.
